At The Steamtown Heritage Rail Centre (SHRC) visitors can relive the glory days of South Australian railways. The charming 4 acre interpretive heritage site was once the Northern Division of the SAR and is the home to the only 3 gauge train turntable in the world still in operation and the heritage listed Roundhouse. Each evening the stunning Sound and Light Show tells the story of the creation of Peterborough, the evolution of the railways of South Australia and the history and personal stories associated with this history and personal stories associated with this historic railway town in the beautiful Southern Flinders Ranges.
