In July 1920 the Goulburn community decided that a public ‘soldier’s memorial’ should be built as a lasting tribute to the men and women of Goulburn who served during WWI. It was opened in 1925. Inside the tower is an honour roll inscribed with the names of those who enlisted from this district. Designed by the architect E C Manfred, the square tower is of stone conglomerate, standing 20 metres above the top of Rocky Hill. A collection of objects, memorabilia, military heraldry and technology related to Goulburn’s involvement in war is housed in the nearby Rocky Hill Museum. The Rocky Hill War Memorial is listed on the Register of the National Estate.
