Kingfisher Bay Resort is World Heritage-listed Fraser Island’s premiere eco accommodation, and the gateway to some of Queensland’s most spectacular wildlife and diverse landscapes.

As the world’s largest sand island, and stretching over 123 kilometres, Fraser Island’s pristine natural environment is characterised by vast golden sand blows, over 100 freshwater lakes, and the iconic 75 Mile beach highway along the eastern coast. This must-see destination is home to an array of unique wildlife, including Australia’s purest strain of dingoes and over 354 species of birds.

Situated along the western bay of Fraser Island, Kingfisher Bay Resort is nestled amongst tree covered dunes, blending seamlessly into the native surrounds. The resort overlooks the calm waters of the Great Sandy Strait, with the tranquil atmosphere offering guests a relaxing and immersive back-to-nature experience.

Entertainment

Kingfisher Bay Resort is the perfect base for exploring Fraser Island’s breathtaking natural sights, with guided 4WD tours departing daily. Discover the island’s ‘Beauty Spots’, such as the famed Lake McKenzie, ancient rainforests, striking cliffs of coloured sands, and the historic ruins of the Maheno shipwreck. Guests can also join our rangers for daily nature-guided walks and talks, to explore the resort’s native wallum and coastal surrounds.

From August to October each year, guests can embark on a morning whale-watching cruise, to experience breathtaking up-close encounters with the magnificent humpbacks, as they migrate along the Fraser coast.

Accessibility

The Kingfisher Bay Ferry offers efficient and direct access to the resort, with passenger and vehicular ferries operating from River Heads (Hervey Bay) five times daily, taking approximately 45 minutes. Just a short distance north of Brisbane (approximately 300km), coach and train services are also available, as well as daily direct flights to Hervey Bay from major capital cities.
